Mobile ATA hard drives compared

There’s another nice comparison of mobile hard drives at TechReport. The guys tested 8 different drives with different RPM and capacity to find out the performance differences. And they are really huge - between the slowest drive with 4200 RPM and the fastest one with 7200 RPM is huge difference. These drives are also compared to popular “normal” desktop drive Seagate Barracadua 7200.9, which presents another huge leap. So if you are going to buy some new notebook, be sure to buy at least 5400 RPM drive, because the slower one will cause serious performance decreasement. Many manufacturers use these slower and cheaper drives in their laptops to offer better price, but it’s realyl worth investing few more bucks into better piece of hardware in this case…
