The latest pressure on peer to peer networks and website culminating with shut down of The Pirate Bay brings first fruits. People around The Piratebay launched a new international organization called “The Pro Piracy Lobby” with aim to start a discussion about filesharing and find similar organizations all over the world. They also request freedom of the internet, in meaning of port or traffic limiting, which is still very popular by certain internet service providers.
The interest in file sharing, piracy and the Internet in general increases exponentially each day, says Tobias Andersson from the swedish PiratbyrĂ¥n (The Bureau of Piracy). Pirate groups and parties are being grown as flowers in springtime. In Scandinavia cooperation across borders has already been fruitful. The swedish PiratbyrĂ¥n has acted offensively and succeeded in inspiring the startup of both a Danish and a Norwegian Pirate Group. Together with the international file sharing website The Pirate Bay, Scandinavia has established itself as a prominent figure in the debate concerning intellectual property and piracy.
It will be probably a long way to reach some progress in the area, but we should be happy someone thinks like this and put some effort into similar organization. There are already political groups promoting filesharing in the Sweden, so why not to make something similar also in other countries. Good idea guys…
