Microsoft launched a new wesbite informing about their new operating system, Windows Vista. There isn’t many information yet, but you can check minimum and recommended system requirements already. There were many excited discussions about this, lot of people saying this new OS requires too much of new hardware, but it will not be that hot probably. Microsoft also used special terms for covering min and recommended requirements, so you will find “Vista-Capable” and “Premium-Ready” instead of common terms.
Minimum Requirements (Vista-Capable PCs): 800 MHz Intel-compatible processor, 512MB of RAM, DirectX 9.0-Capable Graphics Processor, 20GB HD
Recommended Requirements (Premium-Ready PCs): 1 GHz Intel-compatible processor, 1GB RAM, DirectX 9.0-Capable Graphics Processor, with 128MB graphics memory, 40GB HD with at least 15GB ‘free space’
Although these specifications aren’t that high as it was announced before, they may comprise a serious problem for many people because their current computer isn’t that good. The other thing is the real performance, because if I’m right, Windows XP was also advertising 128 MB of RAM as minimum, but you can do almost nothing with this, everything is too slow. The future will tell us, but I think that many people will stay with Win XP for some time, until there will be some superb feature worth upgrading to Vista…
